Aqua is a member of 852 Resurgence. He is a member of the MRT Diaspora.

History

Aqua met Card0 on the MRT Server and was invited on March 21, 2021. Initially, Aqua was not very active, only occasionally participating in skribbl.io games.

In the third quarter of 2021, Aqua started participating in voice conversations and posted memes.

Aqua won the Best Memelord award in the Hongkongggag Community Awards.

Personality

In real life, Aqua is mostly quiet, except with friends and family, while he is more extroverted online, described as "unhinged" by Card0.

Aqua likes to frequently annoy Card0, mainly around the topics of age, Ruff Ruffman, the yuu Rewards Club, and Kururu. He also "demands" that Card0 promote him to Admin, or else Card0's alt Bentu will be "sacrificed" to the Keroro Platoon. Whenever Card0 is in a voice channel, Aqua will play songs on MEE6 such as Chinese patriotic songs, yuu and Don Don Donki theme songs, and Sgt. Frog openings in Japanese and Cantonese. He will ocasionally play the audio of videos by KianPlaysMC, an old YouTube channel by Frosty_Foobar10.

Aqua is most active in the #memes channel, posting several memes each day from Reddit and other Discord servers. He also likes to quote Card0 and AirplaneNiner out of context in #funny-quotes.

Aqua joins voice chat fairly often, but only unmutes on certain occasions, usually later in the mornings or evenings. This is due to time differences with Hong Kong as his family members are still asleep when 852r is active, as well as microphone issues.

Politics

Aqua is known for frequently expressing support for the Republican Party and the Chinese Communist Party out of sarcasm, while he actually identifies on the center-left on the political spectrum and opposes extremist politics in general. He identifies as an American citizen first and foremost, while also identifying with his ancestoral home of the People's Republic of China. While he has expressed disapproval of actions done by their respective governments, he sees his American nationaity and Chinese heritage as integral parts of his identity. Like most other members of 852R, he supports Hong Kong's pro-democracy camp. Economically, Aqua supports a form of capitalism with strong government intervention to protect workers and consumers, and opposes revolution as advocated by communism. Aqua holds socially progressive (including pro-LGBT) views and believes the government should not involve itself in citizens' private lives. He strongly supports free speech and opposes both SJW and "anti-woke" ideologies.

While he identifies as gay, he refuses to identify as queer, unlike other members of 852R's LGBT community. This is because he sees his sexuality as his only "queer" trait, while in general his interests and personality lean masculine, which matches his cisgender identity. He has also expressed concerns about radicalism associated with the term. However, he does not believe the term is a slur, and respects others identifying as queer.
