Syntax (formerly Syn7ax), is a member and former moderator of 852 Resurgence. He ran the Hongkongggag Minecraft Server during the summer of 2021.
History
Syntax first joined the community on April 19, 2021, some time after the March Reforms. In the summer of 2021, he suggested the idea of an official Minecraft server, and later received approval from Card0.
The Minecraft server run by Syntax went online on July 23, 2021. He was then promoted to Moderator several weeks after on August 10, 2021, due to his work on the Minecraft server.
On September 7, 2021, the server went offline. Following this, he would enter a period of semi-inactivity before resigning on April 18, 2022. He left the server sometime after for personal reasons.
On December 14, 2023, a video by flutters of an Irish farmer appeared on his YouTube recommended feed, inspiring him to rejoin the server. However, he would remain only semi-active, such as during the fallout of the 2024 US elections.
Nyan Homophobia Incident
When the Nyan Homophobia Incident occurred, Syntax happened to be closely related to Nyan and his e-sports community named Dumb Musketeers. According to Syntax's personal account, he was not aware of Nyan's apparent homophobia and edgy personality.
Syntax attempted to mediate the situation, acting as a channel of communication between Nyan's community and Card0. However he failed to resolve the conflict and ultimately gave up. In light of the discovery of Nyan's homophobic and other undesirable attitudes, Syntax slowly distanced himself from Dumb Musketeers and eventually leaving the community altogether.
