852R SMP V2
The 852R SMP V2 is the successor to the 852RSMP and the third (technically fourth) iteration of a Hongkonggag Minecraft Server. It went live on April 27th 2023.
History
Beginnings
Discussions of transferring the SMP to a paid host due to inactivity on the old SMP began in early 2023, however Card0 would not act on it until late April where after playing Modded Minecraft survival and greatly enjoying, decided that it was time to transfer to a new host. Checking his finances, he decided to host the server on Shockbyte.
Following a poll, Card0 tried to transfer the SMP to the new host. However, the world by then was too big and as a result, he was forced to announce that the SMP had to be reset and that the new SMP would act as a "Season 2" to the old SMP. When the server first opened, there were some issues and the server had to be restarted multiple times to install plugins and configure the server, Card0 explained it by saying that the server was in Beta and that things would be smoother later on.
April 30th Meeting
A meeting was held on April 30th to discuss the future of the server and how to keep it active. Infrastructure plans were suggested and approved as well as event ideas. Following the meeting Tolmo commited a religiously motivated terrorist attack.
End Dragon Fight
The first End Dragon fight was held on May 13th 2023 at night, the server hit around 13 members which caused a lot of lag. The initial fight was also very short, with Ballsy making the final kill, and ItzAccelerate grabbing the Dragon Egg, although they would fall into the End shortly after taking the Egg with them. However, many members were also acting immature, accusing Jasper of breaking the bed despite Card0 telling everyone to calm down, leading to Jasper leaving the server entirely shortly after. Card0 would make an announcement urging more maturity shortly after.
Wither Fight
A smaller wither fight was held on May 27th 2023, with just 6 people attending. However in the chaos the Nether Star was lost and Luminous lost her gear. Following this, the SMP would enter a slump that would last until the summer.
1.20 Boom
As a result of 1.20 releasing in July, there was a boom in the activity of the server, with a growing number of active players. This was also helped by Card0 promoting the server on Instagram as well as the server being 24/7. In addition, one faction: Cherryshroom Island, saw the most active players.
