Christie Incident
The Christie Incident was a successful coup d'etat of hongkonggag between September 14 and 15, 2019. It involved an Admin ,Christie, taking control of the Instagram page, leading it to its eventual deletion.
Timeline
Below is a timeline of events of the incident. All times are listed as local Hong Kong Time (GMT+8)
September 14th 2019
- 20:00-21:30: Christie announces that she had become a Blue Ribbon because of how the protests had affected her family's business. There is no response from Card0.
- 21:30-22:30: Card0 realises that the page had been taken over. He and flutters had been forcibly logged out.
- 23:00: Christie is removed from the chat. Evidence of her taking over the page became indisputable based on the tone of whoever was speaking on the page.
September 15th 2019
- 09:30-10:30: Further attempts to get Christie to confess fail. Vista and DJKP initiate a restoration effort to give control back to Card0.
- 10:30-11:30: As a last resort, Card0 contacts Instagram to try and restore the page. Various members continue to try and get Christie to confess.
- 11:30-12:30: The old page is deleted permanently. Christie is promptly demoted and banned, denying that she took over the page.
- 14:00: Card0 begins laying the foundations for a new page.
- Late Afternoon-Early Evening: Salmon is promoted to Admin.
Legacy
The Christie Incident remained a prominent event in the community's history, with Card0 often bringing it up during the eras where the community was largely on WhatsApp. On the incident's first anniversary in 2020, Card0 made a short memorial speech in the chat, with many still remembering when the page was taken down. However as the community shifted to Discord, many members had little to no knowledge of Christie, making her name a memory remembered by the older members. Despite this, on the 3rd anniversary in 2022, Card0 would also make a short speech poking fun at how Christie failed to take down the page for good, and that it was thriving. Many members in response to this, also joked about how Christie attacked the page, with Christie becoming a minor joke in the community.
