Astra is an Admin of 852 Resurgence.
History
Astra first joined the server in early 2022, becoming active in both the main server and the Tsz Kong Political Sim. He would help found the Democratic Socialists, the precusor to the Democratic Socialist Greens and would serve as President for one term.
Due to his maturity and level-headness shown in Tsz Kong as well as other heated moments, he was nominated and promoted to Moderator in April 2023. He had previously been nominated in late 2022 but denied the nomination, however he changed his mind in early 2023. He would later be promoted to Admin in December 2024.
Server Beliefs
Among the Staff team, Astra is one of the most level-headed and mature members, often choosing to have a cooler head in situations, either remaining neutral or simply stating his stance while not engaging in an argument directly. Politically, as he is a supporter of the Australian Greens IRL, as well as a firm pro-democracy supporter when it comes to Hong Kong, Astra represents the main left-wing of the community, often advocating for the page to lean more into it's left-leaning pro-democracy stances, having supported ideas such as the International Queer Intiative. In both the server and page, he has also sought to prevent the rise of the xenophobic radical right, believing them to be a detriment to the Hong Kong democratic cause. This indicates a willingness to work within Card0's structured approach to management, even if his personal style leans more toward dialogue and education over strict enforcement.
Astra's beliefs are characterized by a strong emphasis on social justice, environmental awareness, and a pragmatic, yet compassionate, approach to moderation. He consistently demonstrates a focus on the broader societal and environmental context. His progressive leanings are evident in his support for educating others on cultural sensitivity rather than immediate reactions, as seen when he agrees that getting angry over a cultural faux pas is less productive than educating those that are less aware of such issues.
