United Infrastructure Guild

The United Infrastructure Guild , also know as the U.I.G or the Guild, was a faction on 852rSMP by Thoth on April 12th, 2022. Its goal was to bring good to said server by building infrastructure. When the SMP reset, it chose to continue without being remade. It was founded as a somewhat apolitical and neutral organization, but members had the right to defense of themselves or the public infrastructure they build and/or maintain. It generally did not prohibit members from being a part of any other faction on the server. Counting the founder of the Guild, there were currently seven members at the Guild's peak, including Card0.

On March 30th, 2025, Thoth announced in the Discord for the guild that the group will be dissolving, citing his job as well as extreme inactivity on the SMP. He also stated that it is possible for the guild to be recreated, but he would have to, in his words, "...have a lot of time on my hands as well as become actually active on the SMP again." It should be noted that currently, Thoth doesn't play on the SMP, mainly due to, again, his job. He then deleted the Discord server for the guild shortly afterwards.

Notable Projects

-Building and maintaining Nether Highway System.

-Its own HQs on the various incarnations of the SMP.

Advocacy

Though the United Infrastructure Guild was largely apolitical as previously said, it did have a few stances on issues that pertained to the organization. Most notably, it felt that the Nether and especially the infrastructure therein should be neutral and cease fire zones. In fact, it even felt that infrastructure that serves the entire server in all parts of the server should be neutral and cease fire zones.

At one point during it's long history, the United Infrastructure Guild advocated for copper as a currency, but it eventually retracted that view.

Trivia

-The United Infrastructure Guild was based on the Spacing Guild from the Dune Chronicles series by American author Frank Herbert and the numerous infrastructure organizations on the notorious Minecraft server 2b2t.
