May 2020 Porn Incursion

The Varteshian Incursion was an attack on The Resurgence led by a member known as Vartesh and his friends on May 22, 2020.

Background

Vartesh joined between April and May of 2020, being a semi-established member in the group chat. On the night of May 22, 2020, he invited some of his friends to join a trivia session held by Card0.

During the game, some of his friends behaved inappropriately. One of them, Tensho, expressed his apathy and indifference towards the 2019 Hong Kong Protests, leading admins to be on high alert.

Attack

After Vartesh asked to host a round of trivia after Card0, his friends began sending explicit images and stickers.

The attack occurred in three waves.^{[clarity required]} More people were banned with each wave as Card0, Vista and Justin had to shut down chat repeatedly.

Vartesh was later banned by Card0. According to Card0, Vartesh denied any involvement and "acted like a child."

Aftermath

The attack led to the creation of Chat Mods. Tolmo was the first one to be promoted, followed by aaronforce1 and Anidiot a few days after.

In March 2021, Chat Mods were renamed to Mods and given power on 852 Resurgence.
